As a result of this, Teleflora must complete in order to protect and secure orders for its members. The difference between Teleflora and FTD is that Teleflora won't direct-ship an order.
It’s no secret that I'm a longtime FTD member, and I want them to do right. I am also a Teleflora member and I like what I am seeing from them as far as what they do for the retail florists.
I ask you this; does anyone wonder why there are no more FTD conferences for its members? Where is their commitment to the retail florist?
Now, what can you do about it? Go out and market to your customers! I market for over 100 florists across the country who are moving the needle. I am doing this to help florists who want to secure opportunities and orders.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel, but sitting back and threatening to not fill orders doesn't do a thing. FTD chooses to bypass the local florists and ship flowers, so why not appreciate the fact that Teleflora continues to send all of its orders through the network?
The bottom line is that we need to work together and we all need each other. The idea that customers can trust their local florists for same-day delivery is an incredibly powerful tool that not enough florists are promoting.
It's a great industry we’re in, but we definitely have challenges to face. Those who take responsibility for the results are prospering - you have a choice.
